House Rules League

Four-on-four, indoors, on a field that is genuinely big. Metro Golf Sportsplex gives us 185 feet by 95 feet of turf. Four-on-four is not a compromise we made to fit indoors — it is the format that gives you the most space and the most touches.

Speedpoint means no pulls and no long resets: the next point starts the moment the last one ends. One full 55-minute game every Saturday, 5 in the regular season plus playoffs.

Every Week, One Team Hosts

Every regular-season Saturday is played under one House Rule - a bonus-scoring twist that applies to the game that night. What makes this league different is who picks it.

Each week one team is the host, and the host’s captain chooses the House Rule for the whole night — from a fixed menu, and never a rule that has already been played. Four teams, four weeks, one turn each. The order is drawn at the captains’ meeting before Week 1 and published immediately.

So you are not just playing the twist. You are picking the one your team is best at — and taking it off the board so nobody else can.

Week 1 · November 7 is the house’s pick: Hammer Time. After that it is the captains’ call. Picks lock Tuesday at midnight and the rule is announced Wednesday morning, so everybody gets the same three days to prepare.

The Menu

  1. Hammer Time. Assist a goal with an overhead throw — hammer, scoober or thumber — and that goal is worth 2 points.
  2. Everybody Eats. If all four players on the field touch the disc during the scoring possession, the goal is worth 3 points. On a four-person line that is very doable — and it makes the newest player on your team the most important one.
  3. Pick & Go. Catch a D clean out of the air, keep it yourself and carry it in — that goal is worth 2 points. Defence finally pays.
  4. One-Hand Wonder. Scoring catches must be made with one hand. Trap it with two and you walk the disc back to the goal line and throw it in again. Expect highlights. Expect disasters.
  5. Bounce House. A scoring pass may skip once off the turf and stay live — normally that is a turnover. Catch a skip in the endzone and the goal is worth 2 points.
  6. Play It Straight. No twist, no bonus points, pure ultimate for the night. A perfectly legitimate pick — and sometimes the most ruthless one.

Six rules, five nights. One of them never gets played. Which one is up to your captains.

The House Rule is confirmed at the field before the first pull, and bonus points are called out loud by the scoring team’s captain as they happen. Every team keeps a sideline scoreboard, so the score is never in question.

Playoffs

No house rules in the playoffs — straight ultimate, and all four teams get there.

  • Week 6 · Dec 12 — Semifinals. 8:00 pm #1 vs #4, 9:00 pm #2 vs #3.
  • Week 7 · Dec 19 — Finals Night. 8:00 pm 3rd place game, 9:00 pm the final, then season awards.

Five regular-season games decide your seed. Nobody is eliminated before the playoffs, and nobody coasts in either.

Built for Teams

Bring your crew, your work team, your pickup group, your tournament roster. Register as a team and you keep your name, your roster, your jersey colour — and your week as host. One captain checks out once; you sort the rest out between yourselves. A team registration covers up to 10 players — add an 11th or 12th for $125 each.

Ten players sharing one team registration works out to $136 each for the season, under $20 a night.

No team? Sign up solo. Individual registrations are drafted onto the HAT team, captained by a Wukong organizer — who also gets a week as host, and will absolutely be taking suggestions. Same schedule, same standings, same trophy. Open and Female spots are counted separately so every team stays balanced. Signing up with a friend? Buy two individual spots and name each other on the intake form — we will put you on the same roster.

All Levels Welcome

4v4 is the easiest format to learn ultimate in: fewer players to read, simpler space, far more touches per game. If you have only played a handful of times, this is the league to start in — and the House Rules actually help, because most of them reward sharing the disc rather than hucking it. We run a rules and strategy briefing before the first pull on Week 1, and organizers are on the field every night.

What’s Included

  • 7 nights of full-size indoor turf — no games lost to snow, rain or cold
  • A full 55-minute game every week, with standings posted after every night
  • Your team’s own week as host, with the House Rule in your hands
  • Team pinnies, game discs, sideline scoreboards and organizers every night
  • Playoffs for all four teams, plus Finals Night and season awards

Not ready to commit to seven weeks? Grab a Week 1 Trial Pass — $30 for the November 7 opener, and the full $30 comes back as credit if you join a roster by Tuesday, November 10. Eight passes only.

Refunds & Transfers

  • Full refund, minus a $15 administration fee, until Sunday, November 1. Email info@wukongultimate.com with your order number.
  • After November 1 we cannot issue refunds — indoor turf is paid to the venue in advance. Individual spots stay fully transferable at no charge: email us your replacement’s name and gender.
  • Team registrations are final after November 1, but your roster is not — swap players in and out at any point in the season, no fee, just tell us who is playing.
  • Season-ending injury: if an injury ends an individual registrant’s season before Week 3, we issue a pro-rated credit toward a future Wukong league, valid 12 months.
  • Missed weeks are not refundable or creditable. Field time is booked whether or not you attend.
  • If we cancel a game night, we reschedule it or extend the season by a week. If neither is possible, you receive a pro-rated credit.
  • If the league does not reach 2 full teams by November 4, it will not run in this format and every registration is refunded in full, with no administration fee.
  • All prices are in CAD and exclude 13% HST, which is added at checkout.

Before You Play

All players must be 18 or older and complete the Wukong Ultimate Club waiver before their first game — we email it with your registration confirmation. Please bring turf shoes or clean indoor runners; metal cleats are not permitted on indoor turf.

We photograph and film league nights for our Instagram, Xiaohongshu and WeChat channels. If you would rather not appear, let an organizer know on your first night.
